Madam Foo Foo Couture was co-founded by Lisa Lake-Roedemeier of Louisville, Kentucky, and Judy Steers of Scottsdale, Arizona. The "sisters" began creating original hat designs with a twist of southern charm in January 2009. The vision quickly expanded as designer Carol Waller, also of Louisville, saw the intrigue and came on board. What has evolved is a true labor of love...of fashion and horses!

Lisa and her husband, Gary Roedemeier, live about twenty-five minutes northeast of Churchill Downs - the horse racing capital of the world. She was born and raised in southern Kentucky. She has one son, Jordan Lake, and two stepsons, Bret and Chad Roedemeier.

Lisa is the president of Media Thoroughbred Group, a horse racing partnership company she founded in 2005. Lisa taught psychology at Western Kentucky University and East Tennessee State University before moving to Louisville in the early 1990s. Her first experiences with the Kentucky Derby came soon after, as both she and Judy were members of the all-female syndicate Purse Strings Farm. The syndicate campaigned Leo's Gypsy Dancer - a graded stakes winner who ran on the undercard of the Kentucky Oaks in 1999.

Judy and her husband, Lee Steers, live in Scottsdale, Arizona, about an hour east of the Phoenix Art Museum, where she is a docent. Judy's philanthropic efforts also include working with the Boys & Girls Club and Audrey's Angels. Judy was a particpant in Kentucky Derby festivities when she lived in Louisville for nearly thirty years, working as a pediatric allergy nurse and business owner.

Judy's interest in fashion and design began in early childhood in the same little southern Kentucky venue where her mother and Lisa's father - sister and brother - were born and raised. For the past two years she worked with Doncaster in the fashion design world. Judy has three sons, Phillip, David, and John James, and two step daughters, Paula Farese and Samantha Courtney.

Carol, and her husband, Larry Waller, live about fifteen minutes southeast of the nerve center of horse racing in Louisville. Carol worked at Churchill Downs for several years in various capacities, experiencing the fashion and style of Derby firsthand. She's also no stranger to design as she was the seamstress and creator of many prom and Derby ensembles for her three daughters, Stacey, Stephanie, and Shanna. Carol is a vital part of the lives of all...including the six grandchildren...five of whom are girls!!

Needless to say, all the beautiful Waller girls wear Madam Foo Foo hats to Oaks and Derby!
